About Smartphone & PDA Cell Phones

June 29, 2009

Smartphone / PDA features and functions have evolved.  They are all-in-one wireless mobile handheld devices which have gone beyond simply communication between two people.  All the bulkier equipment traditionally used in an office has been compressed into one small and slim device that can fit in the palm of a hand or inside a pocket.

With these take it anywhere devices anyone can make and receive calls, write and read email or arrange and schedule appointments and have these devices remind them.

Additionally, desktop applications traditionally on a PC are available on these smartphone / PDA wireless mobile devices.  Applications such as MS Word, MS Excel or MS Powerpoint are available for viewing and editing documents or files.  These files can also be syncronized with the same files located on the home or office computer.

Carriers have gone beyond providing only voice and text messaging.  Now they can provide Internet access for smartphones, such as the Blackberry Storm, LG Voyager Phone or the Palm Treo 800w Phone that support a web browser.  If the carrier provides 3G, then users can talk to a friend or coworker while surfing the web and even have another application running in the background… that other application maybe a mediaplayer running a video or playing music.  The capability of playing video games, online or off is included as well.

Smartphone / PDAs like the Blackberry Storm, the Apple Iphone or the Palm Treo also have built-in GPS navigation mapping system that gives turn-by-turn directions.  Another convenient feature some of these smartphones include are a digital camera and video recorder.  As anyone can see, these devices can do almost everything that is normaly done from home or at the office.
